INPUT FIELD FORM #2, the edible installation in which a majority of our dinner ingredients were grown, was realized during Ursula’s artist residency at ChaNorth in Summer and Fall 2018.

Ursula Endlicher turns digital code into physical form. A media artist who has worked since the mid ‘90s with the Internet, she has been translating the structural components, systems and interfaces of the Internetworked world into material formats. She has built Internet art works and performances, where real-time data and code determines layout and choreographies. Her mixed-media installations, using ceramics, video, agricultural fields and food, invite her audience to partake in the celebration of these re-coded systems through tours and dinner events that offer “edible HTML.”

 

INPUT FIELD FORM #2 (April - November 2018), part of the ongoing edible HTML series, turned the online sign-up form of the Process Park Artist Residency at ChaNorth/Chashama  in Upstate New York into an agricultural field growing vegetables and herbs. Each HTML <input> field’s specific functionality determined which plant to seed in the garden. The harvest of these fields was offered during monthly public tours and used for preparing several INPUT FIELD FORM dinners; their multi-course menus were influenced by the online structure.  

 

Amanda McDonald Crowley, is an independent curator and cultural worker, operating as Public Art Action. She has a long history of working at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Her curatorial work increasingly often also explores the intersection of art, food, and technology. #arttechfood

 

Ursula’s first INPUT FIELD FORM was realized in summer 2017 at Agrikultura, which was an exhibition of 30 public artworks, installations, meals, performances, urban interventions, and events by 40 artists that took place outdoors in Hyllie, Malmo, in southern Sweden. Agrikultura was co-curated by Amanda and Marek Walczak.
